OMG...

THAT AWKWARD MOMENT YOU'VE FINISHED YOUR BLOG, BUT YOU DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS ANY POST/TASK MISSING.
Damn it.

My body loves me :)

“Sinusitis is an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, which may be due to infection, allergy, or autoimmune issues.”
Why do I post this? Because I have sinusitis, SURPRISE! It’s horrible, we start the last week, full of exams, and my dumb body decides to being ill, perfect. I’ve to go to the doctor and see what’s going wrong, but I really don’t have time right now...

I think it’s because the allergy. I don’t know exactly what I’m allergic to, because they don’t want me to make some tests in order to discover it (incompetent people to watch over people’s health, it has no sense...Nowadays, because of the cuts, you have to go to a private doctor if you really want to know what to do, and that’s a shame I think. Isn’t health a human right?).

Headache, cold, fever... I’ve visit a webpage, called Medline Plus, and according to it, I have to drink a lot of water and to watch out with my diet. Well, it means that I’ll spend my 18’s birthday eating carrots and drinking water, nice! It sounds quite fun!
I hope it doesn’t cause any problems to me. I have to go to the doctor as soon as possible, but until then, I’ll be drinking water...

See you!
Clara.

Funny video

AAAAAW! I love this video! I discovered it last week and I shared it on facebook! It has gone viral in our class! Everybody sings this song. Well, we need some humour to put up with all the exams we have, and this kind of videos help us to relaxing a little bit. ;) Have fun!!

TOP 10 BOOKS

Reading books is one of the thing I like the most and sometimes it’s quite difficult to find an unforgettable story. Today I want to share with you the five books I prefer. However, this is a matter of taste. I’m not going to explain what they talk about, because you can find all this information on the internet. I prefer to give my opinion about them.

1. Memoirs of a gheisha - Arthur Golden. I’ve read it in English and Spanish and I prefer this last verion. The English one was good, though. The think I like the most of this book is the love story it contains between the lines. I didn’t realize who was in love with who until the end, and once I knew it, a started to cry . Furthermore, Chiyo’s life, all the things she has to fight for, it’s a very touching story.

2. The host - Stephenie Meyer. Although I didn’t like her other books (Twilight, New Moon...), this one was perfect. It’s quite long, and sometimes it becomes very boring (like a lot of books), but the story was so beautiful. It shows the power of love and friendship; besides, Mankind’s selfishness and violence are reflected in the novel.

3. Los caracoles no saben que son caracoles - Nuria Roca. It’s like a real-life story. Clara is a woman ho has to struggle to get over her sister’s death. I love the way Nuria Roca talks about common things, I’ve laughed a lot with it.

4. El perfume - Partick Süskind. Some people say that this book is quite special. It’s because the main character is a murderer. It’s not a love story, people are not accustomed to that kind of characters, and when I started to read it I thought that only a mad woman would like that story. I liked a lot. Damn.

5. Amarse con los ojos abiertos - Jorge Bucay. I started to read it when I had my first argument with Èric...I’ve learnt a lot of things with this book, and I recommend it to everyone. When you’ve argued with somebody, most of the times you think you’re right, but sometimes it couldn’t be like this, and this book help you to open your mind.

6. Memòria d’uns ulls pintats - Lluís Llach. I love the way he writes (maybe it’s because I prefer catalan books. One secret: I like to read them out loud, or read them to somebody if it’s possible. For example, two weeks ago I read to Èric “Laura a la ciutat dels Sants”) and tells the story. It was perfect, and that’s all.

7. Marina - Carlos Ruiz Zafón. I read it two years ago. It was a strange story, but I remember Marina like an angel, a lovely girl, despite the end. I cried a lot, too.

8. L’amor - Paulo Coelho. It’s not a novel, it’s only collection of all the sentences about love that Paulo Coelho has written in his books. I read a sentence everynight; Moreover, the cover and the presentation of the book are great.

9. The road - Cormac McCarthy. Mario Bueno gave it to me last year. Partnership, but a lot of suffer and fear. It’s quite difficult to imagine the world as he describes it. Once I finished, I talked some minutes with Mario about it, and then I realized that the most important thing for him is his son. Nice, doesn’t it?

10. Els ulls del drac - M. Àngels Gardella.I read it when I was only 10, it was the first book I cried with. Another love story, for a change. When I think about it, I feel the same I felt when I was reading it. It’s like when you’re an adult and remember some things of your childhood. It’s an strange feeling, but quite good.

My English competence in 2012

I have chosen this one because it seems to have the best structure, with a good introduction and its different parts in favour and against the topic, and finally there is a conclusion, too. We made it class and Sonia had corrected it twice before I post it on the blog. What’s more, I used different connectors I had learnt and vocabulary related to the topic we were working with. I could improve it, as everything I do, but I think that is a good example of improvement.

Best oral evidence: A moldy world
No doubt, that was my best oral exposition ever. I didn't feel nervous and it was great. I did it alone and I made a lot of rehearsals before I exposed the topic. Furthermore, it was a topic I knew well and the most difficult thing was to sum up all the research paper and make it clear and easy to understand. I remember that I worked a lot to make a good exposition about it. Anyway, it was worth it.

EVERYTHING WAS WORTH IT.

My English progress from 2010 until 2012

I don’t remember my first writing, but I’ve visit my old blog, and I think I have improved. I second of batxillerat we’ve learnt a lot of new connectors and vocabulary. What’s more, Sonia has given us a lot of webpages to improve our English, and that was a great help.  I notice a great change in my writings because of all the things I have learnt. For example, when I started my first blog I used to use the same structures, they were useful but a bit repetitive too. I have enriched my English vocabulary. Moreover, I think I have improve my fluency and my pronunciation, because I try to talk in English whenever I can.

My oral presentations in 2010 were a disaster. I made them with Quim, a classmatter who wanted me to do all the exposition. I made an incredible change when I started second of Batxillerat and Quim wasn't my classmate anymore. It was because I started to work more and better, preparing my oral expositions as much as I could, and then I made MY LAST ORAL PRESENTATION: A moldy world, which was about my research paper. I've to say that I'm so proud of it, because I wasn't nervous and I had a good mark :) That was my problem, at the beginning I didn't make enough rehearsals of my oral expositions, and they were a disaster, a felt nervous and I couldn't make it better, I was all the time saying: aaah...eeem...ehh.... That's the key, work, if you've prepared it there's no problem to get a good mark. Moreover, when you get  good mark, then you're proud of your work.

I can notice a personal development, too. I’ve become autonomous and mature, not only with the English class, but with Batxillerat in general. An English blog requires perseverance, effort, and you cannot leave it for the last week. It’s quite difficult to learn this last point, I think...;)

Happy mother's day!

Yesterday was the Mother’s Day. I named the Valentine’s day like "Come-and-buy-whatever-you-want-so-as-not-to-lose-face-and-make-us-rich". Well, the Mother’s day isn’t different, doesn’t it? We celebrate it at home. We gave a flower bunch to my mother and a card where we wrote: Tenim un sol de mare. Moreover, Melanie bought a Cupón Extra del Día de la Madre and we had the refund!
Maybe yesterday was that  day to remember how much you love your mother. Sometimes teenagers are blind, and we don’t know what’s better for us, and we think we’re always right. But life circumstances make you stronger and mature, and one day you realize that yous mother has always been there. In my case, I’ve grown with her and she has been my support in everything and she loves me moret han anything. Mother’s day is a day to reminds her how grateful you are for her inconditional love and how special and happy she always makes you feel. It doesn’t matter if you give her a present or not. You owe her your life, everything you have. Yesterday was, therefore, a common day, because everyday I remember her how much I love her, not always with words, but with my heart.

Love you mum :)
