Spain's "Indignats" mark protest anniversary!

"Tens of thousands of people have protested in a number of Spanish cities to mark the first anniversary of the "Indignants" movement.
In central Madrid, many protesters occupying Puerta del Sol square ignored a midnight deadline to disperse.
The movement was formed out of anger at the impact of Spain's deepest economic crisis in decades. Unemployment hit a record high in April.
The centre-right government has recently announced fresh austerity measures."
Thisis a piece of news I found, by BBC. It’s quite shameful  to be famous around the world because of Indignants movement. It’d be better to be famous around the world because our good economy, high marks at the universities, good athletes, or our sympathy...But that’s impossible nowadays. I’m proud of all the people who started the Indignants movement, if I could go there, I’d stand up for our rights. Our government is blind, they don’t want to listen us, but someday they will realize that WE are right, and together we’ve got more power than them :)
From here, congratulations to all the people ho have been fighting for our well-being!

THEY HAVE TO REALIZE THAT IT GOES LIKE THIS:

Would you want a Catalonia tea?

Well, this isn’t a piece of news, but an interesting article. BBCnews has different descriptions about different countries, and one of them is Spain.
“Spain's modern history is marked by the bitterly fought Spanish Civil War of 1936-39, and the ensuing 36-year dictatorship of General Francisco Franco.” They say. And that’s true.

"The bursting of the housing bubble tipped Spain into a severe recession and by the end of 2011 the country had an unemployment rate..." AHÁ! I was waiting for this paragraph! I was worried: “They talk about ETA but not about the housing bubble...that’s suspicious...” Nowadays it’s well-known that our economy doesn’t work very well.

"Flamenco music and dance are widely admired around the world..." Stop it a second...Flamenco, and that’s all. Quite fun, doesn’t it? When you go abroad and you say to somebody: “I’m from Spain”, they automatically answer: Oh, and can you dance flamenco? Have you got any bull at home?

I think Spain is more than flamenco music and dance, there are a lot of different regions and they are of equal importance, I think. What about Euskadi traditions, or Sardanes? Last year a travel to Euskadi (because my brother is living there), and I learnt a lot of traditions they have. It’s beautiful to be broad-minded. Two years ago, for example, I went to Germany, to visit my family, I went to a supermarket and I bought a “Catalonia tea”, as you can see in the picture...When you come across things like that, at the begining it’s funny, but then you realized that people doesn’t know anything about your culture, and that everything is covered with a layer of toros and flamenco. I like flamenco, I dance flamenco every week, but it’s not the only dance in Spain, I think.

I think that people are too much narrow-minded, and sometimes it can hurt.

A love song...

"In the sixth of a series showcasing Africa's musical talent, Atemi Oyungu performs her song Nairobi and talks about what inspired her to write it."

I love finding great news sometimes, and this one, for me, was perfect. YOU'VE TO WATCH THE VIDEO! I got gooseflesh while I heard that song  and the reasons why she had written it. I think that for oneself it’s important to be in love with a region, it doesn’t matter if it’s a country, or a village, the most important is that you can say:  “I’m from that place, and I love it”.
Furthermore, Atemi’s right. All we know about Africa is its poverty and starvation, so it’s like we don’t know anything.
We’ve got some songs that remind us where we are from and how beautiful this place is, l’Alt Empordà. For example, l’Empordà by Sopa de Cabra, and now La República de la Tramuntana, a new song by Macaco. If you haven’t listened it yet, I recomend it to you, I love it :)
The song hasn’t only a message, but also it’s very beautiful, doesn’t it?

Malnutrition...

"Half a billion children could grow up physically and mentally stunted over the next 15 years because they do not have enough to eat, the charity Save the Children says in a new report."

This is a piece of news I want to relate to Human Rights. It’s about the malnutrition with a billion children have to grow with, and they have to leave school to help by working for food. Luckly, in our country we don’t have children with malnutrition (I think, maybe some of them, probably), but in the third world the food resources are more expensive and they cannot afford it.
What can we do? For example, last year my ballet school organized a dance festival so as to end the year as usual, but that year they collaborated with Save the Children with a donation from the public that came to see us dancing. It was a gratifying sensation. Maybe I can’t save all the children who are suffering starvation, but I can contribute. :)
